Let the summer activities begin!

Feasting on fresh Blueberries and Blackberries is a part of summer fun and picking them yourself makes them the freshest berries possible. Our blueberries are ripening slightly ahead of the blackberries, but both will be ready Thursday, June 1st. This “May rain” will insure they are plump and juicy and ready for you.

We grow our berries with organic practices on grassy terraces, so they have no pesticides and are easy to pick.  The blueberry bushes are a little taller than last year, but are still easy for all sizes to reach. We suspect some of you are taller too!  We look forward to seeing you. Our blackberries are also thornless so they are easier to pick than wild ones.

Parking is plentiful – shade is readily available as well as restroom facilities.  Plan ahead for FATHER’S DAY (Sunday, June 18th) – Berry picking makes a great “kid-led” activity.

Berry Picking Encore!

Beautiful LadiesEncore berry picking performance!  We will be open on Sunday July 3rd to pick. Early pick 6AM – 10AM and Late pick 5PM to 9PM.  There are still berries and this mom and daughter team found a lot of both blueberries and blackberries during this last pick.  They are also some of our best customers and win the title of most return visits.  You know its a good thing when it deserves an encore.

More blackberries are ripening daily and will continue to ripen for the next few days.  The blueberries are almost finished but there are still some left.  Any that were shaded are ripening a little later.  You will need to bend down to find them though. Smaller kids totally have the advantage in picking the blueberries because they can see them easier.  It seems that keeping the berries in the bucket may be more difficult for the younger kids. Some early pickers did find some red raspberries on Thursday.

The weather on Sunday was absolutely beautiful.  It was breezy, with low humidity and temperatures in the 80’s!  After Thursday’s rain and hail storm, this totally made up for it.  Yes, this was a very unique and special way to spend time with family.  No one was in a hurry, which was great.  Plus, having a kid-led activity went over big with the Dads.  One Dad actually said it was the “Best Father’s Day ever!”  Oh, and once they were done picking berries, they still got to go home and enjoy eating them!

Fresh and Simple

FreshBerries are best fresh.  The nutritional value is at its highest point when you first pick the fruit.  Farm to table distance is a key factor that limits the fresh value in stores.  Picking berries at RabbitEye Farm, here in West Point, Georgia, provides your family with the freshest fruit possible. Knowing that our berries are grown without chemicals or pesticides is important too.  You can see that some parents let the children enjoy the fruits of their labor right away!  Good, and good for you! It’s not complicated, its simply fresh.
